IIM Indore’s five year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) is unique in many ways. Primarily, it is the only entry available for students just out of school after Class XII to an IIM. The course structure brings in the element of peculiarity even if one just looks at the various disciplines which are touched up on during the course of study. To get into IPM, one needs to apply online through IIM Indore’s official website iimidr.ac.in Candidates are then required to appear for an Aptitude Test assessing them mainly for their skills in English and Mathematics. Shortlisted candidates get to face the Personal Interviews by a panel of esteemed faculty members and other academicians.

Once selected, the gates of the world of learning are thrown open for five years. In the first three years, the focus is on social sciences with foundation courses in Sociology, Philosophy, Psychology. A great deal of emphasis is also laid on Economics and Mathematics. Some of the greater surprises can be found in the form of courses on foreign languages like French, Spanish, Mandarin and German and those in fine arts like dance, drama, music and sculpture. Apart from these, a bouquet of other courses is available which help one to develop one’s analytic mind while being sensitized about the society and its issues at large. A social internship with an NGO or a company’s CSR wing at the end of the third year

Building on the foundation of social sciences laid so far, the last two years expose the students to an in depth curriculum in the various spheres of management like Marketing, Finance, Operations Management, Strategy and many more along with the fellow students who enter the institute for the post – graduate course through CAT. The case study based pedagogy is the most prevalent method, along with a plethora of other evaluation methods like group assignments, presentations, projects. This comes along with the rigor of the placement process including corporate and B – school events and competitions.

Given that all IIMs are only entitled to offer diplomas by far, an undergraduate degree (in any subject of the student’s personal choice) through the distant learning programme of IGNOU is helpful in case the students wish to pursue any career options in the future that require an undergraduate degree as a basic qualifying criterion.
